In Step 2: “What’s my Process?” of the Process Optimization Path®, you’ll explore the steps by which the work gets done and find opportunities.
Once you’ve determined the opportunity and described it in the Charter, your next step is to understand how the process actually works. This may seem trivial at first, but more detail comes to light as you think about each step of the process.
You can find opportunities for improvements within that detail. Sometimes the opportunities are obvious once you make them visible, but other times they’re initially hidden. You make the process visible by creating a Process Map.
After you've completed Step 2: “What’s my Process?”, you can begin the next step, Step 3: "What’s causing my Problem?".
Quick Win
In the Quick Win pathway, you’re taking a casual look at the process, guided by a Process Walk and the 8 Wastes to identify improvements you can make.
Root Cause Exploration™
In the Root Cause Exploration™ pathway, you take a more in-depth look, gathering data so you can both measure baseline performance and gather clues to potential root causes.
