The Project Handoff addresses the key actions required to close a project after you have made Quick Win or Root Cause Exploration™ improvements.

Ready to create your Project Handoff and start improving?

Use this tool to document your results, describe how to control the process, and to obtain approvals to conclude the project from the Sponsor or Supervisor, along with the Process Owner.

The Project Handoff accomplishes the following:

  • Allows the Project Leader to move on to other work

  • Equips the Process Owner to manage the process in a way that holds the gains

How do I create a Project Handoff (Quick Win)?

Once you’ve implemented your Quick Win improvements, Kure will lead you through answering a few simple questions:

  • For Results, provide a brief description of what has improved in the process. For example, it now takes less time, has fewer steps and handoffs, less delay, etc. If possible, quantify the impact. For example, specify the amount of the time saved or the number of process steps reduced.

  • For Process Controls, identify how you will sustain the process changes so that the gains will continue. Consider how you can use Visual Management to make it easy.

  • For Sign-off from Sponsor or Supervisor, enter the person's name approving the completion of your process improvement.

  • On the next screen, select Yes from the drop-down arrows after accomplishing the actions specified with the Process Owner.

  • Once you have answered these questions, Kure will summarize the Project Handoff. At this time you can review the entries and edit as needed. When you are satisfied with the summary, select Complete and Kure will produce a summary of your entire project. Your project is almost complete!

How do I create a Project Handoff (Root Cause Exploration™)?

Once you’ve implemented your Root Cause Exploration™ improvements, Kure will lead you through answering a few simple questions:

  • For Results, provide a brief description of what has improved in the process. For example, it now takes less time and has fewer steps or has less errors and rework. Summarize the impact to your goal metric and specify the amount of the time saved or the percent reduction in defects.

  • For Dos and Don’ts for Future Efforts, clarify important things you learned from this project—things you want other optimization project teams to know.

  • For Positive Impacts on External Customers, describe how the customer is likely to experience the change. Look at your VoC Translation Matrix and consider if any of your changes will impact the customer. Also, consider the benefits the staff may experience with the change, such as less stress or higher morale.

  • For Hard Savings, list the financial impacts, such as cost reduction, revenue increase or profit increase.

  • For Soft Savings, list the non-financial benefits.

  • On the next screen, select Yes from the drop-down arrows after accomplishing the actions specified with the Process Owner.

  • For Next Target or Improvement Idea, list a potential project you’d like to focus on next. This could be a process issue uncovered during the course of this project.

  • Once you have answered these questions, Kure will summarize the Project Handoff. At this time you can review the entries and edit as needed. When you are satisfied with the summary, select Complete and Kure will produce a summary of your entire project. Your project is almost complete!

Even though you have finished your project and made significant improvements, there still may be more that can be done (but you aren’t stuck doing it all). As you’ve worked your project, you nearly always see other improvement opportunities—make a list of other potential projects.

Kure guides you through each step in creating your Project Handoff by asking simple questions and providing guidance along the way. Powered by our Process Optimization Path® (artificial intelligence), Kure will help you and your teams collaborate to complete process improvement projects together.
